Restaurant Week 2020 GET READY FOR A SECOND HELPING OF DELICIOUS DINING DISCOUNTS

Love Cambridge’s Restaurant Week hopes to encourage people to dine in places they haven’t been to before by offering excellent value for money. “The high street is changing,” says Kristian, “we recognise that restaurants and eateries have a particularly significant part to play in encouraging people to shop locally, rather than online. They help to deliver an ‘experience’, through the ambience that they create and the food that they serve – and so we’re keen to help them thrive.” The participating restaurants should see an increase in footfall, which should also help other sectors in Cambridge, too. In addition to the extensive food offers and special menus available during Love Cambridge Restaurant Week, there is also a competition running, where you can be entered into a draw to win a £100 Love Cambridge gift card to spend in over 200 locations across Cambridge. All you need to do is redeem an offer in one of Restaurant Week’s participating venues between 16 and 27 March, and then share a photo of your experience on social media along with the hashtag #CambridgeRestaurantWeek to be entered. If you’re interested in any of the offers, just visit the Love Cambridge website and download the relevant voucher for the offer you’d like to redeem. Full menus for all the restaurants will be confirmed nearer to the event, although advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. Some of the offers will only be redeemable on certain dates and times, so make sure to check the terms and conditions before you go.

creating a perfect opportunity to sample this Alsatian speciality. “Flammekueche is a light, scrummy dish that can be enjoyed any time of the day,” explains owner Alex Crepy. “This yeast-free dough is spread with crème fraiche, onions and delicious combinations of fresh ingredients. It’s not pizza though, it’s better! Cooked fast in just 90 seconds, flammekueche is crispy and full of flavour – in fact there’s nothing else quite like it and we look forward to sharing it during Restaurant Week.” In the mood for Mediterranean? Signorelli’s Deli, La Piazza, La Raza and De Luca Cucina all have top deals to look out for, and for exceptional value for money, tapas restaurant Tabanco has got you covered. “For a touch of real Spanish hospitality, head to Tabanco,” says owner Tim Luther. “You’ll get a glass of wine, Galician bavette or chickpea and spinach stew, churros and chocolate and a Hot Numbers coffee to finish, all for £10!” Or you can opt for food from further afield: Chi Restaurant is serving Asian street food with a modern twist, and you can find authentic Korean cuisine at Kim’s Bulgogi. Jian Bing House’s Yanfang Lin recommends their traditional Chinese street food: “You can watch us prepare traditional savoury Chinese pancakes by hand. We use free-range eggs sourced locally from Suffolk, then we add sweet/ spicy sauces, spring onions, coriander, pickle preserves and crisp crackers – all folded up in a wrap in less than three minutes!” And, during Restaurant Week, you can get a free soft drink with any classic jian bing you buy.

fter last year’s resounding success, Love Cambridge Restaurant Week is back from 16 to 27 March with more delicious deals and discounts at eateries across the city. Geared towards encouraging locals to explore their city, celebrate old favourites and uncover new gems, there’s already an impressive list of participating restaurants. The event is organised by Cambridge Business Improvement District (BID), which works to boost the city’s profile, enhance its economic vitality and deliver a range of initiatives and events, including the market square cinema and Christmas lights. “We want to celebrate the city’s vibrant food scene by inspiring residents and employees to dine somewhere new,” explains Kristian Foreman, marketing and projects manager at Cambridge BID. “Whether you’re looking for a quick bite to eat or a three-course meal, Restaurant Week has some sensational options to tickle your taste buds.” Throughout the week, you can find special set menus priced at £5, £10, £15 and £20 at a whole host of restaurants across the city. These include local favourites like Fitzbillies on Trumpington Street – which is offering a £15 lunch or afternoon tea menu – and The Mac Daddy on Market Square, offering a £5 food deal. Over at The Grafton, Amélie Flam-kuche is getting in on the action with a three-course food deal for £20 –
