PERFORMANCE: ISO

The tweaked sensor and upgraded processor mean the GFX100 II offers a new base ISO of just 80, with native speeds running through to 12,800 and expanded options of 25,600, 51,200 and 102,400. This set of images was taken with the camera and GF55mm f/1.7 lens. The Raw files were put through Capture One 23, with only very minor adjustments and keystoning applied. What’s impressive – irrespective of which setting you choose – is the consistency of colour. There’s minimal shift from ISO 80 all the way to the top of the expanded options. As you’d expect, the lower native ISOs are wonderfully detailed and noise free, but what’s more of a pleasant surprise is that higher native options are equally impressive. The image shots at 12,800 needed to be viewed at 300% to see any real grain. Push into the expanded options and 25,600 is certainly usable, with grain only becoming obtrusive from 51,200 and above. A truly remarkable performance.
