The unit gives a seven-stop power range adjustable in 0.1EV increments for precise lighting control, and output can be adjusted from full power down to 7W. Editor’s Choice: Orca OR-542G
Godox is a brand with a growing reputation for innovative products at fair prices, and the AD400 Pro is a great example of this. It’s a portable, battery-powered unit with the benefits of a studio light. Colour stability and repeatability are features Godox are rightly proud of. When frame-to-frame uniformity is needed, engaging the unit’s Color Mode feature gets colour temperature accuracy to +/-75K. A fully charged battery will give up to 360 full-power flashes and it takes just three hours for the battery to be fully juiced with the supplied charger.
The MKE 400 is a highly directional on-camera shotgun mic that features built-in wind protection and integrated shock absorption. In challenging environments, a three-step sensitivity switch allows the MKE 400 to deliver distortion-free sound. A low- cut filter helps gives results with outstanding clarity, while a headphone socket is provided to monitor your recording as it happens. All-round, the MKE 400 is a superb, great-value microphone.
Part and parcel of content creation is the need to carry stuff around. The Orca OR-542G might look like a posh shopping trolley, but this heavy-duty cart is just the ticket for moving imaging kit to and from locations. It’s roomy enough to take small lights, stands, cables and more; the bag is detachable and the integrated backpack system means you can carry your kit when the terrain gets rough. Inside, there is a pocket to take a laptop and straps to keep the gear from moving around, while more storage options are provided externally. Roger Payne – Editor
