Tamron introduces 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3

The Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD is a new telephoto zoom lens designed for Nikon Z mount full-frame mirrorless cameras. The 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 VC stands out for its extensive 8x zoom range and relative portability, weighing 1180g and measuring 185.8mm in length. The AF system is driven by Tamron’s VXD linear motor, which the company says has a particular focus on tracking moving subjects. The lens also enjoys Tamron’s image stabilisation technology to help at longer focal lengths. Another notable aspect of the 50-400mm lens is its close focusing capability, allowing for a minimum object distance of 0.25m at 50mm. This enables users to achieve a 1:2 magnification ratio at the wider end of the zoom range. The lens includes additional features such as moisture-resistant construction, a fluorine coating on the front element and compatibility with Tamron’s Lens Utility software, which provides options for customising optical functions and updating firmware. It is set for release by the end of September 2024, with a recommended retail price of £1249. tamron.eu

features high-speed AF, servo AF and in- camera aberration correction when used with compatible cameras. The lens construction includes 13 elements in ten groups, incorporating three FLD, one SLD and four aspherical lenses. Additionally, the lens mount is rubber sealed to help protect it from challenging conditions. The 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN will be available from 26 September 2024, priced at £649. sigmauk.com

Sigma has confirmed the release of its new 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens for the Canon RF mount. This ultra wide-angle zoom lens – designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras – is extremely compact, measuring 62mm in length and weighing 270g. This small form, combined with a wide focal range, makes it a superb option for landscape, travel and interior photography. With its constant f/2.8 aperture, the lens can handle low-light shooting conditions and

Tamron launches 28-300mm f/4-7.1 for Sony E-mount

Tamron’s 28-300mm f/4-7.1 Di III VC VXD zoom lens offers a 10.7x zoom range – from 28mm wide angle to 300mm telephoto – in a compact form. The lens features Tamron’s Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive linear motor focus mechanism, providing fast and accurate focusing across the entire zoom range. Additionally, it includes the brand’s Vibration Compensation technology to help stabilise images, particularly at the telephoto end, as well as in low- light conditions. With a close focusing distance of 0.19m at the wide end and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.8, the lens also supports macro photography. Optical construction consists of 20 elements in 13 groups – including extra-low dispersion and low-dispersion elements designed to reduce chromatic aberration – as well as lens coating to minimise ghosting and flare. Built for varied shooting conditions, the lens includes weather resistance and a fluorine coating on the front element. It also features a zoom lock mechanism to prevent unwanted extension. tamron.eu

Sony updates the FE 85mm f/1.4 GM The FE 85mm f/1.4 GM II joins Sony’s lens range as a successor to the well-regarded first-

In terms of AF, the new lens is claimed to be up to three times faster than its predecessor, with enhanced tracking for moving subjects. It is also approximately 20% lighter and 13% smaller in volume compared to the original model. For video applications, the lens features a linear motor that minimises focus breathing and supports in-body focus breathing compensation. It includes customisable focus hold buttons, an independent de-clickable aperture ring and Linear Response MF control. The lens is designed with durability in mind, featuring a fluorine coating on the front element to resist contaminants and a dust- and moisture- resistant construction for harsh environments. sony.co.uk

generation lens. Designed for full-frame E-mount cameras, the lens adds improved AF capabilities, plus a more compact and lightweight design. The FE 85mm f/1.4 GM II is positioned as an option for photographers and videographers, particularly for portraiture, wedding photography and cinematic video. It comes equipped with two aspherical and two extra-low dispersion elements. Sony’s Nano AR Coating II is also included to help reduce flare and ghosting, while an 11-bladed circular aperture and optimised spherical aberration contribute to the FE 85mm f/1.4 GM II’s strong bokeh characteristics.
