A MONTHLY ROUND-UP OF GASTRO GOINGS-ON AROUND CAMBRIDGESHIRE Food News

Hidden Supper Clubs There are even more Hidden Supper Clubs coming up from Puddini Caterers this month, with four evenings of fabulous food marked on the calendar. For all those keen on Mediterranean cuisine, Puddini’s Italian Supper Club is back on Saturday 6 November, hosted by co-founders Alex and Lindsay. “We started the Italian Supper Club takeaway in lockdown, delivering food across Cambridgeshire. Once restrictions had eased and our events slowly started to come back, we really didn’t want to let it go!” says Alex. It features a mouth-watering menu of Italian staples with a modern twist, including chargrilled polenta with gorgonzola, crab linguine with lemon and chilli pangrattato, and chocolate orange tiramisu. There’s also a weekend of sumptuous supper treats on 19 and 20 November, from resident chef Ben Sulston. The delicious menu is loaded with dishes, both satisfying and experimental, featuring favourites like freshly baked focaccia or more unexpected combinations (think pineapple terrine with ginger, coconut and miso). You can also catch a classic Sunday roast on 21 November, which is a collaborative effort from Ben and Alex. If you’ve never experienced one of Puddini’s Supper Clubs, they’re well worth a visit, even just for the friendly atmosphere. “We all shared the same vision and wanted to create a unique experience, with the chef talking between courses, interacting with guests and explaining the creation story and produce behind each dish, in a relaxed way,” explains Ben. The team pride themselves on offering local fare, with many of the menu’s elements hailing from just minutes down the road. “Our meat is sourced from the Longhorn Farmshop, together with our on-site butcher at Highgate Farm,” says Alex. “What has been really exciting is meeting the local growers within the village, producing amazing vegetables, fruit and edible flowers. “NYWines in Great Shelford have helped to create our wine list; plus, Cambridge Distillery and local brewery Wylde Sky feature among our drinks offering,” Ben adds. “We have met amazing local suppliers, some based within a mile of our kitchen, who have all given incredible advice.” Make sure to check out Puddini’s Hidden Supper Clubs, which can be found over at Highgate Farm.
