St Mary’s School, Cambridge
L ocated in central Cambridge, St Mary’s School, Cambridge has been paving the way for girls since 1898, developing curious, compassionate and creative young women who have the confidence to be themselves and realise their own potential. Our students’ academic excellence and personal development flourish side-by-side in the school’s very supportive environment. From the moment they start at St Mary’s, girls are encouraged to be ambitious and have high aspirations about who they want to become. DESIGNED FOR GIRLS St Mary’s stands out as the only single- sex school in Cambridgeshire. Here, girls from the ages of three to 18 are taught in
a space where gender stereotypes do not persevere and all opportunities are open to all students. No subjects are seen as just for boys. Indeed, research from the Girls’ Schools Association shows that girls in single- sex schools are 2.7 times more likely to take further maths and more than twice as likely to study physics and computer science at A-level compared to their female peers in co-educational schools. St Mary’s first-class educational status is exemplified by its last ISI inspection in 2025, when it met all the standards required of the new inspection framework, demonstrating full compliance. Many areas of the school were singled out for praise, which reflects the quality of the education we provide across the board.
