FUJIFILM X-T3 The X-T3 features Fujifilm’s class-leading

26.1-megapixel X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor, working with the X-Processor 4 processing engine. Its native ISO range of 160-12,800 is impressive and capable of noise-free, richly coloured shots, even at the higher ISO settings. FUJIFILM XF10 The XF10 is a 24.2-megapixel compact with a fixed 18.5mm f/2.8 lens. It’s perfect as a take-everywhere snapshot camera, but there’s all the potential for advanced creative shooting, too. Image quality is first-rate from the camera’s 23.5x15.7mm APS-C format sensor, which boasts an ISO range of 200 to 12,800, with extension to ISO 100 and up to 51,200.

XF18MM F/2 R This pancake prime lens gives the equivalent of a 27mm wide-angle lens in the 35mm format. It’s ideal for a wide range of subjects, from landscape and travel, to portraiture and street. A compact stature makes it an ideal take-everywhere lens.

the day, going to 1/320sec as the light drops, and eventually to 1/250sec. I’ve been disappointed in the past and lost some great shots when the shutter speed wasn’t fast enough, so I always keep the speed high. I’m happy with the ISO creeping up – some of my best shots were at ISO 6400. I also love a bit of grain adding to the atmosphere. I went through a black & white phase and had the X-T3 set to Acros+R Film Simulation mode. I still shoot with this when the light is really contrasty, but now I’mmore into bold colours and love the Velvia Film Simulation for brash tones. I have a project on Blackpool, and the strong colours look great for this. I shoot with the camera up to my eye – I don’t like being covert and I’d much rather people knew I was taking a photograph. If someone does spot me taking their picture, I just smile and say, ‘Oh, I thought you looked nice’, or, ‘Your hat looks great’,

and show them the picture. To be honest, it helps being a middle-aged woman. When I do try shooting from the hip, the results are always on the wonk and look terrible. One thing I am trying to do is slow things down. I used to go out and take 800 shots a day. I was like a magpie attracted to everything. Now, I’m getting better. I ammore selective before I raise the camera – I’m down to 150 on a long day. Also, now if I see a shot, I work it more and hang around a bit to see what happens Before, I’d take a shot, think ‘Great, got it’, and run off. I love the unpredictability of street photography – not knowing what you are going to get. I think it is the process, rather than the end result. I like being in the zone – it’s like meditation, just being out there. I do enjoy a good decisive moment, but I want my shots to look nice – the aesthetic is important to me.
