AUGMENTED OLYMPICS
Snapchat helped bring the Paris Games to life with augmented reality experiences and content partnerships. This allowed fans to immerse themselves in the action through official broadcaster highlights, creator content and innovative AR features powered by Snap’s AR Camera Kit technology. Snapchat’s AR studio, Arcadia, teamed up with NBC Universal to create a suite of engaging AR experiences for US fans, including a virtual front-row seat to the opening ceremony, personalised event recommendations and introductions to Team USA athletes and their Bitmojis, including Paralympians. Coca-Cola and Snapchat also unveiled the world’s first AR vending machine in the athletes’ village and Coca-Cola’s international Food Fest. Powered by a custom Snapchat AR mirror, it offered photo opps, games, prizes and ‘drinks.’ For the first time, Snapchat and NBC Universal invited creators to the Olympic Games, with influencers such as Livvy Dunne, Harry Jowsey, Kai Cenat, Enisa and Duke Dennis sharing perspectives on the opening ceremony and various events.
