IMAGINARIO AI CEO: Jose Puga

What is the company’s origin story? When he started his career in 2007, Imaginario CEO Jose Puga interviewed stars for a living. Though this might sound glamorous, in reality, he spent half his time transcribing and curating quotes to then repurpose long-form interviews for social media. Fast-forward ten years, as a business development director at Warner Bros Discovery, he faced a similar problem while leading subscription video- on-demand teams globally. This challenge inspired him to build a powerful tool to streamline video curation for enterprises and production companies. Puga later met his co-founder Abdelhak Loukkal via the Entrepreneur First incubator in London. Loukkal’s shared passion for content and relevant experience in robotics and autonomous driving at Softbank Robotics and Renault made them an ideal match. Since then, Imaginario AI has been accepted into the highly selective Techstars programme in the US and recently closed a $1 million pre-seed round backed by Comcast, venture capitalists and former AI engineers from Meta and Google. What is it working on right now? Imaginario AI efficiently analyses and integrates three modalities – visuals, audio and speech – into a single curation platform, making it more precise and cost-effective than traditional MAM and AI labelling platforms, which typically require separate models for each indexing type. This architecture also makes Imaginario AI more efficient, flexible and accurate when it comes to understanding and managing different genres and use cases for post- production and marketing teams. Imaginario AI vastly simplifies and enhances the content creation process, empowering post-production and marketing teams of all sizes to distribute more content to a wider audience and better monetise their assets. What is the next step? The company is gearing up to launch its second AI model and system, enabling Hollywood studios, broadcasters and production companies to ‘speak’ and interact with their video libraries. Additionally, it will begin its seed funding round in October. What one thing does the company need most? Imaginario AI needs to boost the distribution of its API and platform across software integrators, resellers and other channel partners operating in the media and entertainment space. It also needs further funding to boost AI training and video infrastructure capabilities.
