recently hosted a high- stakes showdown as
Oleksandr Usyk claimed the heavyweight boxing crown from Daniel Dubois, but the event also marked a milestone in broadcast technology. For the first time, Sony’s HDC-F5500V camera was deployed live, delivered via Top-Teks to UK rental house Livewhire for DAZN’s production, allowing the capture of cinematic, emotion-filled visuals. The HDC-F5500V builds on Sony’s popular HDC-F5500 platform with a single Super 35 global shutter CMOS sensor and a variable ND filter, offering unprecedented creative control while enabling shallow depth- of-field shots that make live sports feel cinematic.
Livewhire used the new camera for high-impact entrance shots, while also upgrading three existing HDC- F5500s to the ‘V’ configuration for fleet consistency. “The Sony HDC-F5500V is a significant milestone,” said Mike Thomas, Top-Teks managing director. Daryl Bidewell, vision supervisor, added: “When the boxers enter the ring, you want every eye to be on them. The HDC-F5500V introduces a film-like intensity.”
