the top people in their fields, whether mountaineers, skiers, snowboarders or whatever.” After a few injuries, avalanches and other close calls, he switched paths, taking his passions to the sky. He set up shop in Cambridge, where his brother worked in aviation, and put another decade’s effort into aerial operation. In between, Spurdens founded RAPT TV, a company that combines his passions for cinematography and still photography. He has collaborated with more than 800 clients throughout his career and develops stock footage,
which he sells through Getty Images. “I’ve always done that. I love it because you do everything in it,” he says of shooting stock. “You’re not one small cog in a massive engine. You storyboard it, shoot it, edit it, put it out there for sale and get royalties. How bad can that be?” he asks. “When you’re not on a big job, it gives you something to get stuck into.” RAPT TV gets its name from Spurdens’ own experience over the years. “I’ve been rapt, pretty much, with everything that’s happened.
