SAVOUR & SIP

THE WHOLE HOG BEDFORD LODGE One of Newmarket’s hidden hotspots, the Bedford Lodge Hotel houses an award-winning restaurant which will play host to a series of dazzling dining experiences through December. Kicking off with a festive afternoon tea and Christmas Fayre menu – available as both lunch and supper – chef Lee Cooper has also rustled up a fantastic seven-course festive taster menu. The venue will be carrying on the party with foodie extravaganzas from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day and well into the New Year – see it in with haggis, neeps, tatties and a traditional piper. The taster menu is available at £61.50 per person, or, with wine pairings, at £126.50.

DECK THE HALLS THE WINE ROOMS Recently introducing private dining to their offerings, the team at The Wine Rooms are whipping up a storm. Serving sweet potato and apple terrine and bread and butter pudding with roast fig compote, the menu is not to be missed.

FESTIVE FUN GASTRONO-ME

Injecting some much-appreciated fun into the festive period, the Yorkshire pud burrito is at the heart of the Christmas table at Gastrono-me, one of Cambridge’s most inventive eateries. The Christmas cheese board mac also makes a welcome addition – we’ll be having a mistletoe mimosa with that!

THE SAGE OF CHRISTMAS FELLOW’S HOUSE At the Fellow’s House, a double bill of afternoon tea and a Christmas banquet is on offer. From £35 per person, sip on a classic blend while making short work of wild mushroom arancini, smoked salmon and citrus yuzu cream cheese sandwiches, white chocolate and goji berry scones, plus passion fruit and orange pannacotta. On the Christmas menu is carrot, ginger and parsnip velouté, dill-crusted cod and bitter chocolate tart.
