FILMLIGHT COLOUR AWARD NOMINEES ANNOUNCED T he nominees for the 2024 FilmLight Colour Awards have been unveiled, highlighting the best of

The new emerging talent award focuses on young colourists, including Everyone’s Game for NBA (Ryan Urzi) and Piérdelo Todo, Gánalo Todo for Nike Mexico (Stephanie Park).

REAL SFX LANDS AT THE BOTTLE YARD STUDIOS L eading special effects company Real SFX has expanded its reach by opening a new workshop at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, joining a growing creative hub. Founded in 2008, the Cardiff-based firm is known for its work on productions like Doctor Who and Peaky Blinders , specialising in pyrotechnics, atmospheric and mechanical effects. The move was praised by founder Danny Hargreaves for strengthening their Bristol presence and creating new job opportunities. Real SFX also recently launched KIT4CREW – a recycling initiative for industry workwear – which earned it green business of the year at the 2024 South Wales Business Awards. ALBERT ACADEMY LAUNCHES A home for ‘accurate, relevant and tailored training’, the albert Academy offers a host of learning opportunities for professionals in film, TV and media looking to incorporate sustainable practices into their work. The interactive workshops and eLearning modules on offer are crafted by industry experts and supported by UK content makers and commissioners. The courses cater to all experience levels, and some are developed in collaboration with ScreenSkills and BFI. If you’re short on time, free 30-minute eLearning sessions provide key advice for creating eco-friendly productions. The 90-minute interactive workshops address the sustainability challenges specific to various production roles to help you integrate green solutions into scripted and unscripted content.
