Apple’s revamped Final Cut Camera adds scopes, SDI output, genlock tools and variable aperture control for iPhone 18 Pro. The free app has had a major overhaul, with a redesigned interface. For iPhone 18 Pro users, a major addition is direct control over the new Fusion Main camera’s variable aperture, allowing it to be dialled in manually or for users to choose from shutter- or aperture-priority operation. The redesigned interface also puts commonly used settings including shutter angle, ISO and white balance within easier reach. Customisable overlays include false colour and clipping indicators for judging exposure, while focus peaking now offers sensitivity adjustment. There’s also a new

aperture using the Camera Control Wheel or on-screen thumbnails. Aperture can be adjusted while recording and incorporated into manual or automatic exposure, giving another means of controlling exposure and depth-of-field from within the app. ProRes Raw recording is available on all supported iPhones. Footage can be captured in 4K or open gate, directly to an external SSD. The HDMI output offers either a clean feed or an information display showing exposure, focal length, recording status,

timecode, format, audio levels and device status. Monitoring aids including focus peaking, zebras, false colour, guides and aspect-ratio masks can also be displayed externally. The free download provides variable aperture control, ProRes Raw, as well as professional HDMI output, while a new $30 annual subscription unlocks Pro Pack, Film Kit, NDI and API functionality.
