Stir new branch
Much-loved cafe and bakery Stir has opened a new branch on Green Street in the heart of the city centre, adding to its existing outposts in Chesterton and Histon. Now with a team of more than 20 talented bakers, cake makers and pastry chefs, Stir makes all its products by hand, using traditional artisanal methods and the finest natural ingredients. Its commitment to quality has not gone unnoticed: the bakery was awarded Britain’s best gluten-free loaf in the prestigious British Baker contest in 2022, and its famous brioche bun won a gold medal in the World Bread Awards in October. At the new cafe, you can expect tasty homemade treats, great brunches and top-quality coffee – served in a cosy and welcoming setting. “We’re delighted to have found the perfect location alongside a range of other great independent Cambridge retailers,” says Stir founder Judith. “This new Stir Bakery shop will offer all the amazing bakery products available in our Chesterton and Histon locations, as well as featuring some new lines which we can’t wait for everyone to see!”
Mill Road’s new cafe-deli, Meadows, is hosting an evening dedicated to showcasing inventive and delicious no- and low- alcohol drinks on 14 May. Forget sugary soft drinks and watery non-alcoholic beer, these tantalising tipples boast sophisticated flavours and are created with cutting-edge techniques, quite unlike anything you’ve tasted before. They’re created by Junø, the new venture of Sam Adams (former head of no and low drinks development at Vanderlyle), and will include red, white and rosé alternatives, plus a selection of uniquely crafted and full-flavoured cocktails – but without the hangover!
