MANAGING WORKFLOWS FROM A TO ZENIUM Imagine Communications’ Zenium platform helps media companies to manage and deploy broadcast microservices

enium was designed by Imagine Communications to revolutionise how workflows and networks are built,

tailored to the user’s requirements, by leveraging a collection of independent Zenium components, each offering an isolated and focused functionality. Using microservices, companies are no longer media operations stuck with a single-task product or relegated to forklift upgrades. With products powered by Zenium, individual functions are modular and licensable. It’s simple to field-upgrade to new formats or features – with no hardware replacement or interruption to mission-critical services. Zenium-powered products scale dynamically, update as new technology becomes available, and are portable between environments, from appliance to datacentre to cloud. Gone are the days of a static monolithic software application. The existing catalogue of over 1000 independent Zenium components can be augmented via a mature SDK. This offers a means of combining existing Zenium component functionality with a company’s own unique, customised,

or optimised technologies. A deep level of scripting control is also available, where field configuration or augmentation is better suited to the task. Zenium also includes a fully comprehensive versioning control, partitioning and deployment manager. This means that creating new unique microservices can be as simple as collecting a set of plug-ins into a new partition. Updating an existing microservice is as simple as updating a single plug-in in the partition. Zenium supports multiple deployment infrastructures, including mixed environments. It can be deployed on bare metal servers, including interfaces for GPU or custom hardware such as SDI I/O, where this sort of physical interface is necessary. It can also be deployed in virtualised environments or containers, as well as cloud-based deployments. Zenium is platform independent, and so can be deployed in both Windows and Linux environments.

implemented and managed with an open, component-based architecture. Zenium aims to help media organisations easily create custom solutions, adapt quickly to market dynamics and deploy new services with experience unprecedented velocity of change – from new players and business models to new formats like HDR, HEVC and SMPTE 2022 – the ability to integrate new technologies and respond to market dynamics is critical to continued success. speed, reliability and flexibility. As the industry continues to Zenium offers an ecosystem of microservices that are portable, scalable, adaptable and reusable. Built on optimised software, these microservices ensure that each function can be deployed efficiently and with low overheads. These microservices can be
