For those that have it, possessing extensive knowledge of cloud technologies is a positive, but it’s also important to make cloud technology more accessible for a wider range of people. “A lot of organisations want to get into cloud, but think it’s going to be daunting, that they need to hire,” she continues. “As Grass Valley spoke with clients, we felt this was a problem we wanted to address, in addition to just the technical issues of cloud production. “Our premise is that it can be simplified – and that we have simplified it,” she continues. “We’ve built a system called AMPP – the Agile Media Processing Platform – in such a way that a broadcaster doesn’t have to script anything. They don’t have to know about Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Terraform, or how to figure out how to save the state of applications if the EC2 instance in AWS dies.” Instead, AMPP ‘hides’ the underlying technology and presents a workflow that broadcast engineers
