What are the main challenges facing the media industry right now? As the world emerges from the pandemic, we are seeing a renewed focus on customers and collaboration. After two years of isolation and working from home, people are eager to come together again. But it’s not going to be business as usual. The pandemic changed how we work and how audiences consume. The demand for streaming content continues to grow at a rapid pace. New productions are also exploding, complicated by the trend for creatives to collaborate globally. Renewed interest in existing content means owners are making their vast libraries available in streaming-friendly formats and new languages. All this demand has effectively

Ateliere’s innovative, AI-driven FrameDNA technology intelligently scans vast media libraries to identify duplicates and redundancies. Our componentised workflow orchestration modules use the Interoperable Master Format (IMF) to consolidate many versions of content into single packages, reducing the storage footprint more than 75% by only saving the differences. millions of dollars in savings, due to the efficiencies of working with us in the cloud. If you could invent any technology, what would it be? The one thing I will miss from remote working is the time saved, and added productivity, from not spending up to three hours commuting every day. There’s nothing like the power of people coming together to innovate – and in the middle of all this is the whiteboard. Amazing communication tools are not the same as the magic of gathering around to brainstorm. You can put anything on a whiteboard, in any position, size and shape – or rub it out and start again. It’s a tactile experience going back through the history of humanity. I wonder what brilliant innovations will emerge from whiteboard sessions as we return to in-person collaboration.

I am amazed at the world’s resilience, and how we all adapted to socially distanced work. But I also worry about missed opportunities because of the barriers that remote working and conferencing technologies create. I look forward to travelling and meeting clients to help solve their challenges. What are the three most useful pieces of technology for your business?
