WINNER Hähnel Modus 360RT

If you want to print images at home, the Epson SureColor SC-P700 has to make your shortlist. It’s capable of impressively detailed prints in colour and monochrome. On top of that, there’s a host of user-friendly features, including an internal light to oversee printing progress. For a printer that offers A3+ prints, it’s also stunningly home-friendly. Its built-in roll paper option can be adapted to suit prints of various sizes.

Compact, versatile and full of the features modern photographers expect, the Hähnel Modus 360RT is a quality flash. It’s designed for smaller cameras that have interchangeable lenses. With TTL auto, manual and multi-flash settings, the Modus 360RT suits most subjects. Powered by Hähnel’s Extreme Li-Ion Battery, recycling times are rapid – about 1.5sec for a full flash. Capacity causes no issues, either. It’s much more practical than four alkaline cells.

Broncolor flash units are superbly made, delivering precise and consistent colour reproduction. The Siros 400 S reliably offers high performance, boasting brief flash duration, recycling times from 0.02secs, and the support of an extensive collection of light modifiers.

There’s also plenty of power on hand, with an output of 10,700 lux at three feet. The LEDs last 100,000 hours and provide flicker-free performance, running from a V-Lock battery or mains. BEST PORTABLE FLASH

WINNER Profoto B10 Plus

Editor’s Choice: Interfit Honey Badger 320Ws

Canon imagePrograf Pro-300

Profoto produces beautiful lights and the B10 series shows the Swedish brand at its very best. The B10 and B10 Plus essentially offer similar handling, performance and versatility, but the Plus has twice the output at 500Ws. And this is still in an incredibly compact and portable body form. It’s fully compatible with the Profoto Air Remote, which provides wireless control, TTL and HSS shooting. It also boasts Bluetooth technology and is compatible with more than 120 Profoto light shapers.

When value for money is such an important consideration, the Interfit Honey Badger really fits the bill. This mains flash head delivers 320Ws of light that recycles quickly each second at optimum power. There’s also a 60W LED modelling lamp and built-in radio trigger. It suits newcomers, as well as experienced studio flash users. And it’s worth repeating – it really won’t harm your pockets.”

This category was unbelievably close – the Canon just giving way

Editor’s Choice: NanLite PavoTube II 6C

This LED tube light is a portable and versatile unit, suitable for stills and video shooting. With an output of 520 lumens, and colour temperature that’s adjustable within a 2700-7500K range, it intuitively matches the colour of existing lighting. There’s an RGB mode that includes 360 colour options and, for creative video shoots, there are 15 pre-programmed creative settings to simulate effects – such as a lightning storm or police car with its blues at full blast. It can run for about 65 minutes at full power, too. For its features, size and price, the NanLite PavoTube II 6C undoubtedly deserves an Editor’s Choice award.”

to the Epson SureColor SC-P700 in the voting. Nonetheless, the Canon imagePrograf Pro-300 is such a fine printer that it deserves recognition. That’s why it’s won one of my Editor’s Choice awards this year. It produces borderless A3+ prints and its inkset, comprising nine colour and one chroma optimiser, produces really impressive finishes.
