Vasarhelyi. Trust became a common theme throughout the filming process – and the episode more generally. Both Mittermeier and Nicklen took a ‘huge leap of faith’, according to Vasarhelyi, when agreeing to the project. “It took a lot of trust for [Cristina and Paul] to say yes and work with us,” concurs Chin. “You are entrusted with somebody’s story. You need to be sure to get it right.” Photographer is largely a lesson in storytelling: “We have always wanted to make a film about Cristina and Paul – their personal stories, the importance of their work and the passion behind it,” admits Vasarhelyi. “They really opened up to us and understood the importance of storytelling.”
