Nightsky Studios was founded in January 2022 as Scotland’s first dedicated VP studio, turning to Scan to help them realise their ambitions. Ben Bentley, studio executive, says: “It’s been really nice to have Scan as a partner to give us that insight into what technology is available and how we can best use it to our needs. Basically everything we’ve got in the studio came from Scan, as being able to have their pro video and pro audio experts to lean on has made our lives so much easier.” Following months of research, development and proofs of concept, the final studio configuration comprises a scalable LED video wall, powered by five dual NVIDIA RTX A6000 GPU servers, custom designed and built by Scan’s 3XS Systems division, along with other specialist equipment including cameras from the Sony Cinema range,

Lewis Simister, director at Nightsky, adds: “Having used them in the past, when we decided to go down the route of building our Unreal Engine nDisplay servers and content creation systems, our immediate choice was Scan.” As well as providing bleeding-edge VP facilities for the Scottish film industry, Nightsky is part of the Virtual Production Fellowship. This partnership includes Screen Scotland, Final Pixel and Blazing Griffin, an award-winning global creative works with expertise in tech development and education. The Fellowship has been created with the aim of developing a world-class talent pool for the VP industry in Scotland.
