Fujifilm

Make the Switch ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE Passionate travel and street photographer, Lowie Bingham, talks about her artistic journey and why her FujifilmX Series cameras and lenses are perfect travel companions

I’VE ALWAYS HAD a love for imagery, whether it was cinema, advertising or fine art, but I’m actually pretty new to photography. I took it up around five years ago, and since then it’s become my great passion. I’m still learning all the time, but I think I just enjoy the world more with photography. My background is working with scientists and in hospitals. I studied radiation physics and worked in nuclear medicine as a radiographer, as well as in cancer treatment. Later, I worked as an IT consultant in the City of London. I was doing all those good jobs, well paid, but there was something missing. I just wanted to be creative. I was like a caged animal and wanted to be outside. Finally, I was so fed up with commuting four hours a day, I quit. I was a bit lost for a while, not working, but finding photography was a real

‘eureka’ moment. I decided that was how I was going to satisfy my creative urges. And, since that moment, there's hardly a day gone by that I haven't taken a photograph. I fell in love with its retro look and little leather case as soon as I saw it online. I’m quite impulsive and knew I had to have it. I drove to Cambridge that very minute, and got there just as the camera shop was closing on a Saturday afternoon. It’s still probably my favourite camera, and is with me so often, I feel like it’s a part of me. In fact, when I got my LRPS Licentiate distinction, a lot of the shots I submitted were taken with it. The X100S really shaped what I like in the other cameras I’ve bought, and that’s why I now also shoot with
