Left: Svalbard, Norway Once, on my expedition to Spitsbergen, there was a blizzard. Everything around was equally white. Suddenly, I spotted this Arctic fox. He almost merged with the environment. Only his eyes and nose betrayed him. Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark III, 60-600mm lens Exposure: 1/320sec at f/9 and ISO 640 Top right: Yamal Peninsula, Russia For the indigenous people of the Far North, deer means wealth. This includes food, housing, clothing and transportation. And children know how to drive reindeer on special sleds called narta from a very young age. Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark III, 100-400mm lens Exposure: 1/2000sec at f/5.6 and ISO 100 Bottom right: Yamal Peninsula, Russia Northern lights at the reindeer herders’ camp. The peoples of the Far North are accustomed to the northern lights. But this time, when I took this shot, the local resident began to look with interest, probably trying to understand why it interested me so much. Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark III, 24-70mm lens Exposure: 5sec at f/2.8 and ISO 1250 Far left: Plosky Tolbachik Volcano, Kamchatka, Russia A volcanic eruption is best filmed at dusk, which is when it is not too dark around, the sky has a beautiful colour and the magma looks beautiful and glows.
