literally in a corridor in the back of this recording studio.” Creating The Traitors: Uncloaked was no mean feat, a testament to Greenway and the crew’s ingenuity. “As far as we know, that was the first BBC production shot solely on the Sony FR7 camera,” he shares. The Traitors ’ Season 2 finale, which aired on 26 January 2024, saw 6.9 million viewers at its peak, with 3.1 million viewers tuning in to Uncloaked just after the final episode – and even more watching (and listening) on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds. “I knew The Traitors was popular; I hadn’t realised it was that popular,” Greenway admits. “It was an interesting project to work on. It’s a popular format, and they’re filming the next series right now. I think we’ll be doing the podcast in a similar way for the next season.” Stroke of genius While Greenway works across a broad range of projects, reality TV and British game shows seem to be his bread and butter. “There’s a new show from Remarkable Entertainment called Genius Game ,” he shares. “‘David Tennant is The Creator on our brand-new reality show! Players attempt to navigate each uniquely crafted challenge, but who has what it takes to deceive, collude and outsmart their opponents? Let the mind games begin…’” he reads off Remarkable’s Instagram. Luckily, Genius Game offered Greenway a bit more breathing room than Uncloaked did. “For that show, we provided 38 cameras – a mixture of PTZ cameras and fixed minicams. You could see the gameplay, the dice rolls, the cards being turned, that sort of thing.” While playing, the contestants “were allowed to free-roam within the

studio space,” Greenway details, “so it all followed a fixed-rig style.” Adapted from an existing South Korean game show (better known there as The Genius ), Genius Game is well- positioned for success. The show tests players’ intellect as well as their social and emotional intelligence, having them compete in various challenges and form alliances to ‘survive’. At the end, the victor is crowned The Genius – assuming the British version, distributed by ITV, will follow the same structure. “I think it’s going to be big,” guesses Greenway. “The show is big in Asia, and it’s a popular format in other countries.” With reality TV hugely popular in the UK, “it’ll be interesting to see if those Traitors fans get into it as well,” Greenway notes. ITV has yet to announce an air date.
