BLACKMAGIC DESIGN URSA CINE 12K B randed as the ‘world’s most advanced digital film camera’, Blackmagic’s new URSA Cine 12K builds on the URSA Mini Pro 12K, boasting a new large format RGBW 36x24mm sensor that can create images in up to 12K. At such an extreme resolution, URSA Cine suits high-end filmmaking for any format, an IMAX screen or at-home television, and allows users to shoot in 4K, 8K or 12K without cropping, taking

advantage of the lens’ full field of view. The camera provides exceptional colour accuracy and dynamic range, while its interchangeable lens mount allows users to shoot with the optic of their choice – including Hasselblad.

SLAPSHOT

L aunched by VFX network Hotspring, Slapshot is a machine-learning (ML) based tool which can create rotoscoping WIPs – animations made by tracing over live action – of any resolution in mere seconds. Offered as a free add-on to Hotspring’s existing service, Slapshot accelerates VFX workflows across film, TV, music videos and commercials, encouraging collaboration at any stage. Hotspring developed Slapshot in conjunction with leading VFX studios like Herne Hill Media and Electric Theatre Collective, who tested the tool on their own in-house projects. Paired with Hotspring’s own expertise, Slapshot aims to meet industry demands and elevate animation to new heights.
