the winner of the memory card category with its Black 160GB CFexpress Type A card. Not long ago, the Type A CFexpress cards were only available from Sony to fit its own cameras, in a small range of sizes and at steep prices. Now, with the cards being used in popular Sony cameras such as its Cinema Line FX3 and FX6, as well as its mirrorless A7S III, A9 range, A1, A7 IV and A7R V, lots of filmmakers are in need of cost- effective memory. One answer to this is the Delkin Black 160GB CFexpress Type A, available in 160GB like the Sony cards but at a fraction of the cost. The read speed of 880MB/s and minimum sustained write speed of 400MB/s allow users to take advantage of the high bit rates and frame rates that all of these cameras are capable of. The Black range uses the third- generation PCI Express (PCIe) interface for its VPG 400 rating.
More codecs, including ProRes, 6K ProRes Raw, DNxHD and H.265, now come as standard, previously only available as paid-for options. The Ninja Ultra is built to get the most out of camera-to-cloud technology, ideal for workflows using the Atomos Connect system. It can record 8K, full-quality files in ProRes Raw up to 4K/60p while simultaneously recording HD/60p to H.265. It also supports automatic matching of filenames, timecode and record triggering on Canon, Arri and Red cameras, with more models added all the time. It’s the latest and most updated version of the legendary Ninja. There has also been innovation in memory cards and hard drives. New formats and ever-rising data rates mean manufacturers have had to build bigger and faster products without massive hikes in price. The size versus cost conundrum has been largely solved by Delkin,
the bag while you’re wearing it either. Access is via the rear panel that sits next to your back, so you have to take the bag off to access. The rucksack comes with a rain cover in case of a deluge, but the pack also has a fully waterproof exterior fabric with sealed zippers for weather resistance in showers. Camera-top monitors and recorders have evolved from simply giving a larger view, with data on waveforms and false colour, to enabling a higher bit rate or even Raw files to be outputted. The best are now fully connected devices for cloud workflows or live streaming. The Atomos range includes the latest Ninja Ultra, voted the winner of the monitor and/or recorder category. With the operating system having been completely overhauled, the Ultra is cleaner and faster than previous Ninja models. It delivers a host of new features, including Arri false colour and new scheduled playback and recording.
