MILL ROAD CHEF WINS PIZZERIA ACCOLADE Local chef Scott Holden of Scott’s All Day restaurant on Mill Road has won Pizza Chef of the Year 2024 at the Pizza and Pasta Awards (PAPA). Competing against the nation’s finest pizza chefs, a trio of Scott’s innovative creations were entered into three categories: a mortadella and pistachio pesto Detroit- style pizza, a merguez sausage and feta whip pizza, and a smoked and pulled pork pizza. The latter two both took first place in their respective categories, with judges awarding Scott the overall title for his creative flair and dedication to quality.

The Samaritans is marking its annual Brew Monday on 20 January by reminding us all to reach out for a cuppa and a catch-up with the people we care about. A Samaritans spokesperson says: “There’s no right or wrong way to check in on those you care about. It doesn’t matter if it’s over the phone, in person, with tea or without – the important thing is to check in and connect with those you care about. We know first-hand what a difference moments of human connection can make to those struggling.” For anyone interested in organising their own Brew Monday event, Samaritans has a wealth of resources available at samaritans.org/support-us/ campaign/brew-monday Cuppa compassion
