Knowing that someone was a keen gardener, a lifelong dancer or spent their career in a particular trade means we can plan around who they actually are.
The care home has also managed to forge close links with local religious groups, enabling residents to continue taking part in services, festivals and community gatherings. “A big part of getting the programme right starts long before an activity is ever planned,” says customer relations manager
“Keeping residents connected – to their own interests, to each other, to their faith and to the people who love them – is what genuinely improves quality of life,” she reflects. “We’re not here to change the lives our residents have built over decades – we’re here to enhance them, wherever we possibly can.”
