Aputure has been a smash hit with independent filmmakers everywhere, and a legion of professional YouTubers eulogise about these good-value and innovative LEDs all the time. Now, this upstart company is moving firmly into a higher-end market with the Aputure Light Storm– or LS – 1200d Pro, which features a 1200W output. It’s the brightest light in the entire Aputure line, as well as the highest-output Bowens-mount light fixture on the market. To make the beam go even further, the fixture comes with three Bowens-mount Hyper Reflectors included – narrow, medium and wide. With the narrow, the 1200d Pro can achieve an output of 83,100 lux at 3m/10ft. For remote control, it uses LumenRadio CRMX and Art-Net/sACN via an etherCON connector. There are 5-pin DMX512 ports for integrating into any professional DMX interface.

The Astera Titan Tube is a high-tech LED tube that emits powerful, tunable white light with ultra-high colour rendering, as well as coloured light which can be applied to individual pixels or the whole tube. As they only weigh 1.35kg/3lb for 1035mm/40.7in tubes and are 43.mm/1.7in in diameter, they are easy to mount or even join together. The tubes can be used indoors or outdoors, as they have an IP65 rating, are powered by mains or battery, and can be controlled with the AsteraApp for smart devices, wired or wireless DMX. They’re optimised for ultra-high CRI values at >96, as well as peak brightness. Excellent colour rendering comes as standard, from 3200-6500K. In CCT mode, the range is a massive 1750- 20,000K. The light can also be deployed as a full-spectrum RGB, along with mint and amber settings.

Water-resistant cinema lighting panels are now within reach, thanks to the Creamsource Vortex8 light, a 650w high-power 2x1 LED. It features aerospace-grade sealing technologies. The result is an IP65-rated, water-resistant fixture that has eliminated external power supplies, to simplify rigging and cabling. The Vortex8 produces a narrow beam angle and high light output, ideal for covering more area with fewer units. It ships with LumenRadio built in and supports Ethernet, Bluetooth, TimoTwo, 5-pin DMX, Wi-Fi, USB Type-A and Creamsource accessory port. The RGBW system has a CCT ranging from 2200 to 15,000K, and the Vortex8 can be a hard punch light or creamy soft light with the softboxes. Effects and colour gels are built into the latest CreamOS control, in addition to a range of new features.

Pros: It’s got the power! Cons: Only Daylight-balanced

Pros: Loads of uses, indoor or out Cons: A full set is pricey

Pros: All-weather large panel Cons: High spec is costly
