T ripods with quick-release – plus other high-tech equipment – prove the world of camera support is far from stuck in a rut. In monopods alone, the iFootage Cobra 2 C180 is a marvel of excellent design, while the Gudsen Moza Slypod Pro is a motorised monopod that can be used as a slider or jib. heads, monopods that extend automatically and powered dollies that follow a set path The Konova P1 KMS-S3 carbon- fibre slider is feature-packed and affordable, as is the Hague D5T Tracking Dolly and Kenro Double Distance slider. The Syrp Genie II Pro Kit can be used to programme movements or run a wire cam. In the huge market for motorised stabilisers, the Manfrotto 300XM is still popular as it can be split in half and used as a remote control unit or at the end of a boom. It faces the DJI RS 3 Mini and RS 3 Pro, Zhiyun Weebill 3 and for those of big budgets – the Arri Trinity 2. For a portable option, the Zhiyun Crane M2S is ideal for mid-size mirrorless kit. Bright Tangerine always makes funky gear that works well, and the Red V-Raptor Expert Kit is a perfect match for the Californian camera. For many, support is all about our three-legged friends! The Sachtler Flowtech 75 tripod with the Aktiv8T head is popular and fast to use. Sister brand Manfrotto has its own range built for speedy set-up including the 645 Fast Twin Carbon tripod. The Manfrotto versions are more affordable than the Sachtler kit. For something smaller, Peak Design’s Travel Tripod carbon fibre is compact thanks to its innovative design, while the Libec HS-150C brings all the features of high-end cinema tripods down to a smaller payload limit for mirrorless cameras.
