GEAR OF THE YEAR
VOTE NOW FOR…
Ballots are flooding in for the annual Pro Moviemaker Awards. Don’t miss out on this golden opportunity to have your say!
T he floodgates have opened, as voting is well underway for the Pro Moviemaker Gear of the Year Awards. These internationally recognised accolades, now entering their seventh year, are a major pat on the back for the manufacturers of filmmaking hardware, software and services. It’s all about recognising and honouring the innovation, impact and design skill that these products bring to the market, improving the lives of working filmmakers. As always, the winners are voted for by professional moviemakers who use the equipment on a daily basis. Whether it’s the latest thing or proven gear that’s been delivering for years, these awards are where the very best are acknowledged. The flagship categories are for cameras – and we continue to change the classes to reflect this fast-paced industry. Gone is the shrinking DSLR category and instead we have a class for booming PTZ cameras. There are categories for all sorts of other important buys that filmmakers demand.
Please cast your vote for the equipment and services that have made a difference to your life and work. Go online and have your say in our quick and easy survey to help decide which equipment should be honoured. You don’t have to vote in all the categories – just ones you have experience in or a viewpoint you want to get over. We also have six Editor’s Choice awards, for equipment deserving of special recognition. These are in the categories of mirrorless camera, cinema camera, audio, support, lighting and special innovation. It’s down to you to cast your vote for the real winners!
We have nominees for lenses, lighting, tripods, hard drives, audio kit, stabilisers, memory and much more. These are often the areas with significant technological advances and Pro Moviemaker ’s awards celebrate this. We also put a spotlight on rental houses and retailers of new and used equipment, so often the link between manufacturers and professionals. The shortlist of the best kit and services was compiled by the editorial team and gear testers at Pro Moviemaker magazine. But as always, it’s down to you the readers to form the real judging panel.
HOW TO VOTE Voting is simple – and you don’t have to register. Ballots are open now and run until 22 September 2023, so you’ve still got plenty of time to consider where to cast. Go to promoviemaker.net and follow the Gear of the Year link. Have your say in as few or as many categories as you like, and everyone who votes will be entered into a prize draw.
