The technological alternative could arise from LED video walls as found in virtual production. Emissive displays are attractive for exhibition for the same reason they’re attractive anywhere else: massive brightness and contrast – sometimes more than most applications could reasonably use. It’s becoming plausible to ponder bringing the technology into a grading suite, where increasing pixel pitches make LED video walls an increasingly plausible (if pricey) way to look at a picture.
