OPEN DAYS
atmosphere can be a confidence-sapping experience. A school that is encouraging, nurturing and a notch down in pace can be a much better fit. The details parents should ask for aren’t the end results, but the educational journey that children make on the way to achieving them. Schools routinely carry out baseline tests when pupils start, using them to predict where they’ll end up. Ask them about this. They should be ambitious, expecting children will achieve
great improvements from where they’re starting – and able to talk through what they do to make it happen. Ultimately, it’s not just about finding a good school, but about finding one that’s right for your child and works for you as a family. Sporty, academic or musical, schools need to show they will welcome and appreciate your child for who they are – and help them to accomplish everything that they’re capable of with kindness, dedication and care.
