The units use Epson’s Claria Premium six-colour ink sets to give long-lasting prints, and photo black and photo grey inks help produce high-quality monochrome output. Replacement inks cost £15.99 for 70ml, and each bottle is sufficient for up to 2300 photo-quality 10x15cm prints. The ET-8500 prints up to A4 and costs £629.99, while the ET-8550 is priced £729.99 and can produce up to A3+ prints.
If the idea of printing at home appeals, but you’re concerned with running costs, look out for the EcoTank ET-8500 and ET-8550 from Epson, distributed by Swains. Both are versatile all-in-one units, so can copy and scan as well as print. They’re user-friendly too, with a compact footprint, Ethernet and Wi-Fi and 10.9cm touchscreen. Plus, both can print from SD cards and USB sticks for convenience.
