yourself or sell them for profit

WORDS BY WILL CHEUNG

YOU PUT LOTS of time and money into producing wonderful images, and while they look good on screen, it’s worth getting your best shots into print. We appreciate that not every photo is worth printing – and wall space is often at a premium – but on occasion, it’s worth treating yourself to a big print or two, or perhaps getting your best shots into a book. Large, framed prints are great for special pictures, but prints and photo books are worth producing more often. Getting your favourite shots in a book after a trip makes a lovely memento, and something to enjoy in the future. And with the easy-to- use design software offered by photo book services, it’s easy to conjure up a unique product. We’ve pulled together the UK’s finest printing and presentation services. Whatever your budget or tastes, there’s something here for you.

Analogue Wonderland stocks an extensive variety of camera and film brands to cover all formats and preferences. Supporting film users, Analogue Wonderland has a wide line-up of lab services for processing and scanning colour print, colour slide and black & white film in 110, 120 and 35mm formats. A C-41 film print, developed and supplied with professionally edited premium TIFF scans, costs £20.50. If the idea of processing your films at home appeals, Analogue Wonderland is the place to get yourself geared up. A Film Developing Starter kit is £54 and the Ultimate kit, which includes chemicals, is £90.

A serial winner of TIPA’s award for the best photo lab worldwide, WhiteWall has seen success no fewer than four times. That’s testament to its quality services and prestigious product range. WhiteWall offers so many fabulous methods to present your masterpieces. One of our favourites is ultraHD Photo Print under Acrylic glass, which starts from £12.95 for a 10x10cm print. A huge range of sizes are available all the way up to 180x120cm. Fujifilm’s experts produced a new paper for WhiteWall’s printing process: Crystal Archive Professional Maxima gives deeper blacks, richer saturation and improved resistance to light. Enjoy this paper more affordably by opting for unmounted ultraHD prints – £19.95 for a 60x40cm or £37.95 for an A1 print.

Film never really went away, and it’s now enjoying a resurgence of interest, especially with younger photographers who are only now discovering the joys of silver halide.
