FEED Issue 12

72 HAPPY RETURNS A year of FEED

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO FEED With the arrival of this year’s BVE show in London, FEED magazine is one year old! Thanks for helping us get here!

ne year ago, Bright Publishing launched a new brand dedicated to exploring the tech and techniques for creating

start-up conferences and invite-only events, some of which we’ve covered in our regular ‘Happenings’ feature. These targeted events, with select guests and focused content, are becoming more and more popular, and FEED is being tapped to provide coverage, support and content for these new confab brands. Our first official outing was at the big BVE show in London. A year later, we’re at the BVE show again – as a conference and seminar partner. This year’s BVE features a Tech Futures stage (covered in FEED branding) hosting FEED produced and moderated conference sessions on esports, niche OTT channels and the future of blockchain. TREMENDOUS TWOS So, what’s ahead for year two? With the print magazine on its feet, we’re looking forward to a year of building even more innovative and diverse content. Our FEED app for iOS, launched last year, lets you carry every issue of the magazine in your pocket, and you receive a push notification every time new FEED

content becomes available. The app has been designed entirely in-house by our digital team. With such a great on-site resource available, look out for our digital strategy in 2019 to be creative, experimental and adaptable. We might even do some video, too. But we think FEED has distinguished itself by having its feet firmly in the real world (we hope so anyway!). In the next year, FEED will be expanding its real-world presence with appearances and partnerships at more events, and expanding our regular ‘Feed Dating’ events in London. We’re joined this year by some new arrivals – features writer Chelsea Fearnley and sales account manager Rachel Bayford will become regular fixtures in the FEED ‘Away Team’. In addition to creating great editorial and advertisement feature content, they’ll be meeting with you to hear your stories and work with you to help you expand and improve your media business. Thanks to you all for your support over this past year. We can’t wait to meet you in 2019!

and distributing online video. We kicked off FEED with a high-end print magazine, chock full of deep dives into multiple topics. We took the tack that in an age of continuous digital noise, people who were serious about their content businesses needed time to sit and read, and think. We took a gamble on the proposition that ‘the thinkers shall inherit the earth’. We have been delighted and humbled by the positive reaction from all quarters of the industry, and we think FEED, on its first birthday, can be proud of its success. After a year, we can count among our readers the top names in the online content industry, and a flood of entrepreneurs and start-up geniuses working at the cutting edge. FEED has formed great partnerships with trade shows and industry events over the past year. These have included the big TV industry mega-shows, of course, but we’ve been especially excited to partner with a host of smaller niche happenings,
