HOME EDITION GREEN INSPIRATION Ahead of the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival this month, we find out more about the Get Started Gardens category – created by local designer Tim Jennings H oping to inspire home gardeners with easy-to- apply design tips, award- winning Cambridgeshire
garden designer Tim Jennings shows us that contemporary design doesn’t need to compromise on eco-friendly choices. His latest conception, A Four Season Sanctuary, will be on display at the prestigious RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival taking place between 2 and 7 July. “The RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival provides a catalyst to push garden design beyond the usual daily limitations, take design concepts further and explore what can be possible,” Tim shares. “I hope to show visitors what can be achieved in an outdoor space of any size or location with just a little extra thought.” Working from his studio in the shadow of Anglesey Abbey, Tim devises stunning outdoor spaces to suit all types of settings, from the smallest courtyard to the grandest country home. This newest creation will feature in the Get Started Gardens category at the annual event – a section designed to showcase simple inspiration which can be achieved by any home gardener. Tim intends to use the garden to reshape perceptions of how private, public and commercial spaces can be sustainably developed for a more eco-friendly future. By combining striking modern design elements with traditional materials and naturalistic drift planting, the garden is crafted for the enjoyment of both people and wildlife. His approach to garden design aligns with the growing trend of wellness gardens, providing wild spaces for people to reconnect with nature. Incorporating fragrant plants, fire and water elements, the garden fosters a calming atmosphere, while cosy seating areas invite quiet reflection. Through the use of organic materials and naturalistic planting, Tim has created a garden which enhances happiness and mental wellbeing by encouraging a close relationship with the surrounding plants and wildlife. Sustainability is at the core of Tim’s philosophy, shaping aspects from material and construction choices to plant selection and habitat creation. “I am committed to garden design that boosts biodiversity and minimises use of precious resources.” Learn more about Tim’s work in creating private and commercial gardens at timjenningsdesign.co.uk
