LOVE LOCAL

A cup of tea with… Mehmet Mimoglu, director of Coversure Insurance Services (Cambridge), shares his story – and some top tips to help us lower those premiums!

Cambridge Edition: Tell us a little bit about yourself! Mehmet Mimoglu: I entered the world of insurance at the young age of 18 in north London. After working for a few local brokers for about ten years, I joined the Coversure Insurance Franchisee Network in 1997 as joint owner of the Coversure Leyton office. I moved to Cambridge in 2007 and have been franchise owner of the Coversure Cambridge office ever since. After almost 40 years, I still have the same passion for the insurance industry and dedication to my role as an insurance broker as I did when I was a teenager. CE: Am I right in saying that you actually founded the Coversure Cambridge office? MM: Coversure Insurance’s Franchisee Network began in 1989 in Huntingdon and Coversure Cambridge is one of the first few founded branches, established in 1990. It has a unique history in that very few of the earlier founders and directors of the Franchisee Network initially either worked at or owned the branch. I took over the business in 2007. So, under several different directors, Coversure Cambridge

has been providing insurance services to local customers for 35 years.

can provide a more personal touch and informed support.

CE: What is it about the business model that most appeals to you? MM: Coversure Insurance is an established brand, with operational systems including marketing strategy that have proven to be successful for more than 100 branches throughout the UK. Due to long-standing, strong insurer relationships, we can obtain competitive quotes, comprehensive insurance covers and a very fair claims service. With this support behind me, I can run my office with total confidence that our products are good value for money. CE: Do you find that Cambridge customers really appreciate having a local office? MM: I strongly believe they do. As a local broker, we’re able to provide personalised service with a better understanding of local risks. Insurance is all about peace of mind, hence a local point of contact with face-to-face interactions adds value and trust to the insurance product purchased. Especially during a potentially stressful claims process, dealing with a local office

CE: What’s your best piece of advice to help us keep our insurance premiums as low as possible? MM: I’m a firm believer that the cheapest is not always the best, so I recommend looking for a good-value insurance policy. Bearing this in mind, one thing that will help with insurance premiums is to maintain a good credit score. Insurers view good financial health as lower risk and will offer lower premiums for that. Be sure to review and adjust your coverage regularly too, so that you aren’t overinsured and only pay for the coverage you need. And don’t auto-renew without checking for alternative rates. CE: Finally, what’s your cuppa of choice for a busy day in the office? MM: I am a massive tea lover – PG Tips being my favourite. I always start my day with a cuppa and, whether at work or not, in summer or winter, tea is always my beverage of choice.
