DREAMBUYS

4. AUDIO: SENNHEISER MKH 416 £839/$999 www.sennheiser.com Endless microphones flood the professional market and sometimes it’s hard to know which one is best, but the Sennheiser MKH 416 is without a doubt one of the top choices. It has excellent directivity and feedback rejection. Alongside a low inherent self-noise, its compact design is well protected from various conditions such as humidity and therefore well suited to travel filming. At the top end of the budget, this shotgun microphone provides users with professional audio of the highest standard.

Glyph is known for its reliable, high-quality drives and it’s done it again with the Atom SSD, which you’ll definitely want to add to your kit list. It is lightweight, rugged and small enough to fit in a pocket. You can choose between three capacities - 275GB, 525GB and 1TB, with transfer rates of up to 480MB/s. It’s fanless heat dissipation ensures efficiency, alongside its USB Type-C and Thunderbolt compatibility. Its petite dimensions of 48x122x15mm allow travelling filmmakers to transfer all footage over without the hassle of large hard drives weighing down their bags. Ease, simplicity and efficiency are what this drive is all about. 5. STORAGE: GLYPH ATOM SSD £386/$399.95 www.glyphtech.com

7. CAMERA: PANASONIC GH5S £2199/$2498 www.panasonic.com

The Panasonic GH5S is a big upgrade from the well-known GH5 with even more features for the filmmaker. Its newly-developed, high-sensitivity, 10.2-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor and dual-native ISO means the GH5S can handle noise a lot better than most. It also offers up a larger 4K cinema format with absolutely zero recording time limit and its 4:2:2, 10-bit internal recording system gives operators the most beautiful graded footage. The GH5S also allows you to over or undercrank your footage, creating some pretty high-end looking slow motion. The upgrade also sees new additions of a TC In/Out and Line input alongside its dual SDmemory card slots. Not only is it reasonably compact in size, it’s magnesium body is dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof –making it rugged and practical. You definitely get everything you pay for.

6. BAG: ORCA OR-21 £271/$287

www.orcabags.com

This may just look like a standard backpack but Orca has created a very capable and highly professional bag that can not only carry, but protect all your kit. The bag itself weighs just over 3kg, but this is due to its well- padded interior. It has dividers to customise the layout, can hold at least two bodies and five lenses and has five big external pockets for extra storage. Comfort was clearly kept in mind during design as there’s a padded carrying handle and the ability to attach a shoulder strap via two buckles. A bungee cord can also securely hold tripods, whilst there’s even space to store a 15” laptop. A ventilation system has been introduced too, meaning users carrying the backpack for long periods of time won’t get too uncomfortable thanks to the circulating airflow.
