ACADEMY DUAL SOUND

the range has increased to 200m/656ft – almost three times the stated distance of the old units. A similar-style system is the DJI wireless mic kit, containing two transmitters and one receiver, a portable charging case, wind muffs and cables for £289/$329. The transmitters record up to 14 hours of audio to their built-in storage, in case of signal issues. They offer up to 15 hours of battery life and dual-channel recording with a safety channel. Saramonic’s entry point to the dual- interviewee market is the £285/$249 Blink 500 Pro B2. It comes in a charging case, with single-button pairing, and features two transmitters and a receiver with dual-input capability. The latter can mix or split audio from two different transmitters to two independent channels in mono or stereo mode. They offer 100m line-of-sight recording range, OLED display, and a headphone jack with volume control for audio monitoring. Chinese firmHollyland brought out the two-input Lark 150 wireless mic system. This £251/$279 kit comes with a single receiver that fits to a camera’s hotshoe and plugs into the audio jack, plus two transmitters – one for each interviewee. Both have a built-in omnidirectional mic: simply clip the small transmitter (TX) box to the interviewees’ clothing. Also included are a pair of decent-quality lav mics. The receiver (RX) and both transmitters fit inside a custom-made charging case, which powers via USB-C. All three devices recharge at the same time, and the TX units are always paired with the RX. It is available with a single transmitter, too.

DECISION TIME There is a choice of dual-input wireless systems, including the new DJI kit (top), Hollyland Lark 150 (left) and comprehensive Saramonic Blink 500 Pro (above and right), which comes in a variety of useful kits
