FEED WINTER 2021 – Web

an OpenMedia ReporterApp – and strengthening our collaboration and integrations, realising OpenMedia’s exceptional potential with partners. Resuming face-to-face engagement with established clients and meeting new faces is exciting, as we focus on increasing our media footprint in North America. What are the three most useful pieces of technology for your business? Microsoft Teams has been our go-to tool for day-to-day communication, with Mural an effective platform for brainstorming. With over 400 offices worldwide, they have been vital for keeping colleagues connected in quick, user-friendly ways. Over the last two years, we have adapted our client communication, and though we cannot replace the benefits of in-person meetings, these technologies enabled effective collaboration.

THE MOVE TO BROWSER-BASED, CLOUD-NATIVE WORKFLOWS WAS A FAIRLY EASY PIVOT

Last, but not least, what would we do without good old laptops and mobile phones? Trusted, reliable pieces of tech keeping us connected. If you could invent any technology, what would it be? What a good question! It would have to be beaming display or augmented reality. How great would it be to get anywhere, any time, meeting family, friends, colleagues and clients in a safe and sustainable way of travelling? Imagine the gains in efficiency and wellbeing with

the amount of time saved. No more traffic jams or being stuck at airports! What is the piece of analogue technology your business has got the most use out of? The coffee machine has been a staple return-to-work item! It is the central hub for colleagues to re-engage in person. The informal chats taking place in this space play an important role in reconnection, sharing information and impromptu conversations that help to fix problems.

What are the main challenges facing the media industry right now? The obvious one is the transition to hybrid or remote working from home for employees. Our staff worked from home 100% from day one of the pandemic. It proved very effective, even growing our business and looking after our clients under a different way of working. We have just moved to having everyone back in the office for two fixed days a week – providing free lunches – and offer staff the flexibility to choose where to work from for the other three days. This feels like a nice compromise so far, and the effectiveness of collaborating face-to-face again is significant. We get so much more done, and getting together now for shorter meetings is really productive. Tell us your hopes for 2022. We are looking forward to the return of in-person opportunities with customers. We have already welcomed clients to our Palma HQ, and this kind of live interaction is far more effective and fun than the Zoom lives we have had to lead over the past two years.

What are the three most useful pieces of technology for your business? Being slightly biased, can I say our own platform solution, Cirkus, for internal collaboration, resource scheduling, project and task sharing? We use it as an end-to-end tool for a lead coming in. Hubspot is a good tool for combining all marketing, client nurturing and sales CRM needs in one solution, which has elevated internal efficiencies. Slack, as for most companies, has been a go-to for quick internal messaging and communications. Although, we are now moving more to Cirkus for these needs. If you could invent any technology, what would it be? Good question! I would say teleportation, so we can visit friends, family and clients without the restrictive hassle associated with travel. And saving time from airport queues, or being stuck in traffic. What is the piece of analogue technology your business has got the most use out of? Our tools are pretty much all digital and cloud- based now. Maybe the bus I use to commute to work... does that count?
