S hot over two days at Sony’s a spacecraft en route to Mars – charts a woman’s final minutes and how she chooses to spend them. A human- centred story with a sci-fi twist, the 12-minute short – produced by Red Robin Films using virtual production – received full support from Sony’s Chris Couzens, who initially contacted writer-directors Kieran Lowley and Isobel Drane. “He sent us a WhatsApp from an Digital Media Production Centre Europe (DMPCE), Hestia – set on unknown number and it felt like a scam; it was like, ‘Hello, my name is Chris, I work for Sony,’” Drane laughs. “Then, he explained the DMPCE space, the new VERONA and the BURANO. He asked if we wanted to do a couple of shots against the [LED] wall, to test it out.
