FITNESS FUN

1. NORTHSTOWE FESTIVAL OF RUNNING

Taking place on 2 September, Northstowe Festival of Running promises a day filled with activities, allowing you to soak up the last of the summer sunshine while enjoying races, entertainment and street food. Solo runners can go the distance in the Half Marathon or 10k, while parents and children enjoy a walk, jog or sprint in the Family Mile. After your run, you can stop off for a bite at one of the food stalls, or listen to the live music taking place at the Festival Stage. Those not participating in races are still able to take advantage of the activities throughout the day, with sports clubs and groups from the local community ensuring every attendee has the chance to stay active across the weekend. 2. RABBLE If you want to keep fit, but don’t want the monotony that often comes with exercising all on your own, Rabble holds a weekly social event that will get you moving while keeping you engaged. Hosted every Tuesday on Parker’s Piece, sessions include high-intensity workouts with a fun twist – games such as British bulldog, capture the flag, Frisbee and dodgeball will have you exercising without even realising it. Much like all our highlighted events, Rabble prides itself on being inclusive – offering sessions to people of any age and promising a welcome and sociable environment for everyone.

3. KARMA KLUB AT MASH What do you think of when you imagine

clubbing? Most likely late nights, a crowded room and an exceedingly sore head the next morning. But, on Friday evenings, Mash in the heart of Cambridge hosts a club night that overturns the expectations of raving. With a belief that dancing and clubbing don’t have to be separate from wellness, Karma Klub introduces yogic ideas to a traditional nightclub scene, getting rid of hangovers and replacing them with a hybrid of energising music and stimulating movements. With a focus on inclusivity, the Karma Klub is promising a safe, welcoming environment for all, regardless of dance (or clubbing!) experience, and providing a friendly introduction to those who like the idea of fitness with some extra flair. 4. TOWN & GOWN 10K A favourite for local runners, the Cambridge Town & Gown 10k takes place on 16 October 2023, taking entrants on a journey through the heart of the city centre. The route starts at Midsummer Common before leading you through iconic landmarks, past the historic buildings of Cambridge University’s colleges and then along the River Cam. The event includes a 3k race for those aged 9-15 and a 10k race for those aged 16+, allowing the whole family to get active together in a beautiful course that shows off Cambridge’s best bits.
