SAMSUNG PRO ENDURANCE MICROSDXC CARD £58/$38 samsung.com
Not every device needs blazing- fast memory cards. For some, it’s more important to have improved endurance, with smooth, reliable, continuous capture and playback at an affordable price. The latest Samsung Pro Endurance microSDXC card falls into this category, costing just £58/$38 for a 256GB version. It also comes with an SD adapter, and smaller sizes are available at even lower prices. The new Pro Endurance range was originally designed for the demands of surveillance and body cameras, where it’s crucial to offer continuous recording at high resolution, even under extreme conditions. But this also makes it ideal for video use when you need total reliability at all times, whatever the weather. With Samsung’s enterprise-grade NAND flash memory, Pro Endurance microSDXC cards are purpose-built to deliver up to 16 years of continuous recording time! Samsung claims that this means a single Pro Endurance can last as long as up to 33 speed- focused cards. This card will offer read and write speeds of up to 100MB/s and 40MB/s, respectively. It’s Class 10, with video speed ratings of UHS Speed Class 3
SIZE DOES MATTER The Samsung card is tiny, but has huge 256GB capacity
and Video Speed Class 30. This makes it ideal for handling high-res Full HD and 4K files. We tried it in a DJI Air 2S drone, DJI Action 2 action cam and Tascam Portacapture X8 recorder – and it worked perfectly with 4K files and 32-bit float audio. As action cameras and drones are often subject to tough weather conditions, it’s good sense to have durable memory. In all cases they formatted quickly, with no waiting for the cards to clear. The card is built with protection against water, magnets, X-rays and extreme temperatures, and Samsung says it’s wear- and drop-proof. Pro Endurance 32GB cards come in SDHC format, while larger cards are SDXC versions. If faster cards are a must, Samsung also offers the Pro Plus and Evo Plus, but nothing comes close to 16 years of use! It might make sense to check out your kit to see if you can get away with slower cards, as this could be a better bet in the long run.
