Let’s take a look at some of the latest hardware that’s aimed at the biggest growth area in filmmaking.
Atomos has introduced the Shinobi Go, a lightweight five-inch HDR monitor designed for content creators. The new model offers core features at a lower price point of £258/$249, but doesn’t have advanced camera control features. A 1500-nit display headlines the new monitor, providing high brightness for outdoor visibility. It includes standard monitoring functions like false colour, zebra patterns, histograms, waveforms and vectorscopes. Previously, the 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 superzoom lens was only available for Sony E and Fujifilm X mounts. With its 16.6x zoom ratio, the Tamron has a focal range equivalent of 27-450mm on Nikon Z and 28.8- 480mm on Canon RF-S. At the wide end, it has a minimum focusing distance of 15cm, enabling a max magnification ratio of 1:2. Canon’s £959/$899 Powershot V1 is a pocket-sized 4K compact camera aimed at vloggers and solo shooters. It features a built-in 16-50mm f/2.8-4.5 lens, a 1.4in sensor and Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system for autofocus tracking. The camera supports 4K/60p and Full HD/120p video and also includes image stabilisation, a vari-angle touchscreen and a built-in microphone.
