New Neighbourhoods

LIVE & WORK Devonshire Gardens Cambridge City Council has approved plans for Devonshire Gardens, a £165 million development off Mill Road that will deliver 120,000 sq ft of workspace and 70 ‘build-to-rent’ homes set in a new public park. The scheme is being developed by Socius and Railpen, with design by architects Buckley Gray Yeoman. Homes comprise a mixture of apartments that will remain under the ownership of Railpen. Vic Annells, chief executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, says: “Devonshire Gardens will deliver modern workspaces for corporates and growing businesses, as well as affordable homes that will help attract and retain talent in the city.” devonshiregardenscambridge.com

A NEW DISTRICT THE CORE SITE

COMING SOON WATERBEACH BARRACKS

Plans are afoot for a new district in the north-east of Cambridge comprising around 5,600 homes, as well as shops, workspaces, schools, and community and leisure facilities. The Core Site is in its early stages – with a goal of submitting a planning application in spring 2024. In the interim, the teams are working to engage with the public through events such as the People City Planet Festival: a day of talks, workshops and family activities to help shape plans for the Core Site. coresitecambridge.co.uk

A total of 6,500 new homes, three primary schools, one secondary school and other amenities are currently being constructed at Waterbeach as part of the first phase of redevelopment on the site of the former airfield and barracks. To boost affordability, buyers will have a range of affordable options including shared ownership, shared equity and affordable rent options that can offer significantly cheaper rates than on the open market. waterbeachbarracks.co.uk
