Panzer Cases Centurion 17.9

Vanguard produces a huge range of backpacks and other bags, specified in different ways to meet the needs of all sorts of photographers. One of our favourites is the VEO Select 43RB, which is designed not to look like a camera bag, but still provides ample protection from bumps and the elements. Its zipped roll-top design allows the top ‘daypack’ section to expand or shrink depending on what you’re carrying. Access is by a front panel, but you can also remove the daypack section and get to the main compartment from the top. The padded inner will hold a large DSLR, six to eight lenses, a 10.5in tablet and accessories, and the bag weighs only 1.25kg. Another great option is the VEO Range T 45M tactical- style backpack (£129.99). Its 28x13x45cm inner, accessed from the side, rear or top, will take a DSLR or mirrorless body along with four or five lenses, a 13in laptop and lots of accessories, while the exterior has lots of webbing for attaching tripods or other gear and a detachable water bottle holder. It also has a daypack section to keep some order between camera kit and personal items. Finally there’s the Alta Sky 51D (£229.99), a pro-level backpack with lots of neat features. It has an innovative division in its design, letting you control the capacity anywhere between 100% gear to 100% Vanguard backpacks

Panzer makes a huge range of cases, but one thing they all have in common is great durability, meaning they’ll keep safe pretty much whatever you entrust to them. The Centurion 17.9 is a heavy-duty utility case that’s perfect for transporting or storing camera gear or anything else. Weighing 3.98kg and with internal dimensions of 38x27.1x17.9cm, it comes complete with a versatile foam inner and has an IP rating of 67, so dirt and water is kept well away from your valuable equipment. It’s also shockproof, shatterproof, crush proof, anti-corrosive, chemical resistant and fire retardant.

Evoc CB 3

Think Tank Backstory 15

Sometimes you just want to travel light – but you still need a bag so you can carry your camera and an extra lens. The Evoc CB 3 will do the job perfectly in such situations. Evoc calls it a ‘compact photo block’, because it can be used as a component in many of its larger models. But attach the shoulder strap, and you’re good to go with this alone. Measuring 20x14x10cm and weighing only 230g, the bag’s outer is water-repellent, and its convenient T-shaped zip tags mean you can access gear one- handed if needed.

New from Think Tank is the Backstory 15 backpack. This model has a large and easily customisable single compartment, measuring 27x43x15cm internally. It will swallow one or two ungripped DSLRs or mirrorless bodies with lenses attached up to a 70– 200mm f/2.8, between two and five additional lenses, a flashgun, a 15in laptop and a variety of personal gear. Access is via either a large rear-opening flap, which keeps kit nicely secure, or a top flap for speedier access. A large front pocket can take a light jacket, and there are lots of zipped mesh pockets for accessories. The Backstory 15 should also offer a comfortable carry, with a well-padded

resistant outer with a seam-sealed rain cover if required. If you need to carry less gear, there’s also a Backstory 13 version with internal dimensions of 25x36x15cm, weighing 1.3kg and with the same overall quality, handling and features.

and adjustable shoulder harness, removable waist belt, and top and side grab handles, along with external points to attach a tripod and large pockets for water bottles or similar. Externally it measures 28x50x19cm, weighs 1.6kg and has a thickly padded, high-quality, weather-
