SUPPORT
You may be referred to a speech and language therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or an educational psychologist. With their input, you should get a clear idea of your child’s educational characteristics and what they need to help them at school and home. When it comes to finding the right school to support your child, go and visit.
Listen to how they talk about learning differences – it won’t take long to work out whether they are genuinely inclusive and welcoming and want to work with families to find the best way of teaching your child. If they make you feel that neurodiversity is something to be celebrated and will offer understanding and support, you may well have found the right school.
