King’s Ely

here is a unique aura, an infectious energy at King’s Ely. Our students, families and all members of our school community feel it. Even prospective pupils and parents visiting us for the first time comment on how they experience a special spirit and warmth. Nestled in the heart of the beautiful cathedral city of Ely, King’s Ely is a leading independent, co-educational, day and boarding school. Founded in 970AD – making us one of the oldest schools in the country – we nurture the academic and pastoral needs of 1,135 pupils from ages two to 18. Our stunning 75-acre campus is located just 15 minutes from Cambridge and one hour from London, with direct rail links to both. King’s Ely stands in the shadow of Ely’s magnificent cathedral, which makes the perfect setting for concerts and

performances and serves as our school chapel. But it is not just our awe-inspiring environment that makes us unique. So too does our innovative approach to teaching and learning, our outstanding pastoral care and our quirky historical traditions! We are proud to have received an ‘excellent’ rating in all areas following our latest ISI inspection – recognising the highest levels of academic rigour, pastoral care and extra-curricular activities. Our co-curricular programme is special. This is overseen and developed by Hayley Mortimer, who recently joined as deputy head co-curriculum from Taunton School in Somerset. To say she is passionate about providing opportunities for our pupils, from children at King’s Ely Acremont Nursery through to the young people in our Sixth Form, would be an understatement.
