Offering a whole range of power solutions, from lightweight batteries for drones, to cells that clamp to 15mm cine rails, Sony NP-F and BP-U, plus 14V and 28V V-Lock batteries, Hawk-Woods has a huge range to suit pretty much every type of filmmaking. There are even kits to use a V-Lock battery to power a MacBook Magsafe laptop, Red Komodo, Teradek Bolt and lots more. One very cool product is the Hawk- Woods battery box system. It’s a floor- standing power pack that covers high- powered or long runtime demands for film cameras or lighting applications, in capacities ranging from 450Wh to 1000Wh. The X-Boxx batteries are available in either 14, 24 or 30V and feature two XLR outputs – three or four pin depending on the voltage. The newmini X-Boxx floor battery is more compact and lighter than its predecessors, complete with a new graphic display showing remaining battery life, voltage and accurate charging status. The MXB-880 box provides 880Wh, with four outputs – featuring two XLR4 14V and two XLR3 28V connectors. It also has a built-in charger, although you can still charge via one of the XLR4 connectors with a Hawk- Woods X-Boxx charger. For conventional V-Lock batteries ideal for more compact cameras, the Hawk- Woods 98Wh Mini V-Lok Data offers all the features of the standard size V-Lock, in a small, lightweight case. The Data version has an auto-resetting feature, so that if the battery were to shut down and go into protection mode on location, it resets automatically. It also has an intelligent communication system compatible with Red cameras and any equipment that uses SMBus, allowing the battery power percentage to show on the camera display. There is a flight-safe 98Wh/6.8Ah model, plus a 150Wh/10.4Ah version. Both have a single D-Tap socket.

Despite accepting up to eight batteries, it’s still relatively small and compact. LEDs show battery status, and the charger comes with a soft leather carry handle – adding a bit of luxury.
